These are sample recipies from Recipe Ring #1. Each Recipe Ring contain about fifty recipies of family favorites that have been converted to be as healthy as possible. There are no recipes for tofu - sprout - surprise because that is not what normal families eat. Occationaly, someone will look at a recipe and remark that their family would never eat this because they don't like rasins or sunflower seeds, etc.. The answer is simple - just leave them out or substitute something they like to eat.
HOT SPICED APPLE CIDER
- 1 gallon apple cider
- ½ cup honey
- 3 three inch sticks of cinnamon, broken into pieces
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Heat mixture. Just before serving, float 2 or 3 lemons sliced thin on the surface of the cider. Serves 12 to 16
BANANA BREAD
- 3 eggs
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ cup apple sauce
- ¾ cup honey
- 5 ripe bananas
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
Mix eggs, butter and applesauce, honey and banana in blender. Combine remaining ingredients in mixing bowl. Add banana mixture and mix thoroughly. Bake in oiled loaf pans at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes or until done. Yield: 5 small loaves. This freezes really well and makes excellent little Christmas gifts.
CABBAGE and APPLES
- 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
- 2 medium red apples, chopped with peeling on
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup water
- 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 6 Tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
Brown cabbage and apples in olive oil. Add other ingredients and simmer until tender, about 30 to 35 minutes.
