Hollyhocks

I love bright colors. They make me happy. The Hollyhocks that border the front of our main garden are a riot of color. Bob doesn’t like them much. He says they are invasive. The Hollyhock s are planted in front of the strawberry patch. Sometimes, he pulls up invading Hollyhock plants out of the strawberry’s. On […]

Picking and Grinning

I just picked my first zucchini squash for 2011. In addition, my first Jalapeno peppers were added to the basket. The Jalapenos will top the pizza for dinner. It is so fun for me to pick the “first” of the season. It is going to be a very good year.

Lillies

Every year, the orange lilies spread farther across our front yard. They seem to be waving at the cars as they drive by. Orange lilies are not fancy, but they are happy.

Cucumber

Hooray! I just picked my first cucumber. It is not huge, but worthy of being brought in. We will cut it in half and share it for lunch. I am cooking a giant pot of Red Russian Kale, Blue Kale, mustard greens and collards. Chopped garlic and onions, salt and pepper, and a splash of […]
