Apples

Yesterday, it was grape juice. Today, it is applesauce. Our apple trees got pruned this year. (Bob and the chain saw). We didn’t have one apple. However, my nice neighbor had a bumper crop and gave me apples.  Today, I will be making apple sauce and apple cobbler. It is all good!

Grapes

My kitchen is piled high with buckets and baskets full of grapes. Today is the day for grape juice and grape jelly. By tonight, my hands will be purple—but happy.

Abound

“The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers.”  Deut. 30:9

Pickled Peppers

All the peppers have been picked. Now for the “pickling”. They will be hot and spicy and great on top of a pizza. I always make an extra batch for my son, John. He eats them with a fork right out of the jar. These peppers are serious HOT . The real deal. They are […]

New

Every day, I learn something new. Today, I learned that my poodle likes apple cores. I dropped a core while chopping my apple. He pounced and snarfed it. The same poodle likes raw cabbage leaves, so this shouldn’t be a huge surprise. How profound is that for a new learning experience?

Focus

I have to remind myself, over and over, to focus! There are so many things that need doing right now, I seem to be running in circles. The back porch is stacked with vegetables that Bob picked this week end. Everything needs to be processed and stored for the winter. Some will be canned, others […]
