Rounding Up the Sheep

Tomorrow, we are shearing our sheep. Today, we are “rounding up” the pregnant ewes. They will be kept in the sheep shed overnight. The  Bob has to take the van and go get two rams that have wintered at a friends place. When you load two big Rams in the back of a van, you […]

Voice Recognition

Sheep have voice recognition. They come when we call them. We are  shepherds and  take good care of our sheep. They will not come when a stranger calls.  Sheep can be smarter than a lot of people, just saying.

Lambs

We are looking forward to the April birthing our our Polypay lambs.  The big mama Ewes will be sheared in March, the sheep shed  will be cleaned out, and my “birthing kit” will be organized. One of my favorite things is to sit in a big pile of straw and cuddle a new born lamb. […]

Baby bunnies are on the way. Our Mother rabbits are expecting. Our reasoning for keeping  New Zealand white rabbits is because  they make great fertilizer. I keep a bucket under their hutch and when it get full, it goes out to the main garden.  Rabbits make good pets. They can be housebroken and trained to […]

The Mama White Rabbit

The Mama New Zealand white rabbit got out of her hutch last night. She is still out there, eating grass and clover.  She can run faster than I can!

Sheep Update

Tonight, we moved the ram lambs to their summer pasture.  Bob still can wrestle the rams. They weight about 80#. He loads them into the back of his van and off they go.   Bob had some help from his friend, Jerry. It is a good thing to have friends that will help wrangle sheep. Smile!
