Picking and Grinning
This morning was a good time to pick. My big basket contains tomatoes, okra, mustard greens, and cabbage. What is really fun for me is to collect herbs and load up the dehydrators. Basil, thyme, sage, Italian parsley, tarragon, and lemon balm are drying now. The green house has become my drying house. There are two dehydrators plugged in and drying the herbs. By tomorrow, the herbs will be dry enough to grind up and stored in glass jars. Thanks to my mother in law, I have a lot of the old time blue canning jars. Those old jars make great storage containers for my herbs. They look so cool marching along the pantry shelves. Each jar is labeled with the name of the herb.
When the world looks blacker by the day, it helps to focus on happy things. My garden is my happy place.
