The Christmas Tree
Our Christmas tree is still standing proudly in the corner of the living room. It is holding on tightly to all its needles. We usually take down our tree on New Years day. Not this year. It will probably be put away this week end. Bob takes off the lights and I put away all the glass ornaments. I am thinking about making up a box of ornaments for each of my sons. I have ornaments from the years they were growing up.
We still have all the white lighted candles in each window. They cast a friendly glow over us each evening. I will miss them when we put them away. Bob turned off the big star on the barn last night. It looks dark out there now. The first year we moved to the farm, he built a huge (8 foot by 8 foot star with light rays streaming from the bottom. It looks really special when the sheep are standing under it.
Nostalgia comes each year when it is time to put away the Christmas things. That lasts until I start to order the garden seeds out of the piles of catalogs. My seed orders will be completed this week. That is when the Christmas nostalgia ends and the anticipation of “Garden 2012” starts.
What a Happy thought!
