The Mouse in The House

Last evening, I was cooking black bean soup and getting ready to bake the Jalapeno corn bread.  Suddenly, from under the refrigerator, a huge mouse streaked across the kitchen floor. It scared me.  Bad mouse! Bad mouse! Bad mouse!

Today, the mouse is history. I am  grateful for a heroic husband who deals with invaders.

Think About It

It matters a whole lot who is elected President. It is huge! I will pray and I will vote. But the bottom line in the upcoming election is that Jesus  is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He rules and reigns. By focusing on that fact, it puts things in right prospective.

No worries!

Damp and foggy outside so..today is the day that I really will get around to doing something about the pantry. It is amazing the interesting items that I find in there.  My pantry is suppose to hold food, more food and only food. However, so far I have unearthed a wire dog brush,  an old coffee pot, the remote control for the garage door, a watering can for plants, and a pair of leather gloves.

Today, is the official day. All the unrelated items will be out, the shelves will be washed, and the floor mopped.  All items will be arranged according to category.  ORGANIZATION RULES!

Worth It

We drove a long way (10 hours) to do a Compassion International presentation at a Baptist church.  It was worth the time and trouble. Four children will now have HOPE of a better life due to caring Christians.

One of those kids could be the next Billy Graham or Mother Teresa.  You think?

Company Coming In

I am cooking up a ton of food. We have company coming in this week end and I want to be prepared. We are expecting a Brother from Texas, a Brother from Kenya,  a whole gang of  spirit filled Lutherans and one Baptist!  The old house will be full with fun and  fellowship.  The Lord has a great sense of humor to put these folks together. Can’t wait to see  what He will do. I am loving it!!

Apple Crisp

Soon my kitchen will smell like cinnamon and apples. Bob picked apples this morning. Apple crisp is a very good thing, especially when draped with vanilla ice cream!

Home school kids can do

My conclusion, based on hiring helpers for the farm, is that home schooled kids can do anything.  They show up on time, follow directions, are flexible and put their tools away. They work hard and get the job done! They are polite and respectful.

My summer helper with the garden and the animals is finishing the garden clean up. He will also be helping me inside this winter with stuff like scrubbing floors.  He will be getting the outside kennels ready for puppies, and the chicken house cleaned out.  He will haul logs in from the barn to the wood stove in the basement.  This is a huge help for me.

I say “Well done”, to his parents. You can be proud of your son.  ” Thank you, for letting him help me”.

Company coming

We have company coming in next week end from Texas.  We will have a good old time. Bob is looking forward to having some help planting garlic and digging potatoes. Our company always volunteers to help out on the farm.

Our meals will be homegrown and homemade.  Pumpkin pie will be a featured dessert.  Planning on  a roast leg of lamb and baked chicken for our meat dishes. We have all types of vegetable dishes to share too. It is so fun to feed folks the things we grow right here.

It is a blessing to have visitors who are like family. Smile!
