Saturday Morning in the Kitchen
Saturday morning in the kitchen smells good! There is bread baking in the oven. Chicken soup is simmering on the stove. Two kettles of tomato sauce are bubbling away. Garlic buds are roasting in the convection oven. If I could bottle the smell and sell it, I would be a rich lady. Who needs air freshener?

Bob’s Air Force
When my husband retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty years in service, he never lost his interest in flying. His current interest is building Radio Controlled airplanes. Because they are scratch built out of foam, they are known as a “foamie”.
Our recent activities have been to fly his latest creation in the neighbor’s alfalfa field. He flies and I take pictures. Now this is fun!

Speaking Schedule
I really enjoyed my time to speak at Global Harvest Ministries in Minneapolis. The folks are warm and friendly. They welcome visitors with open arms.
St John’s Lutheran church in Howard Lake, MN. will host two more meetings this month. There were people from ten different churches attending the first two sessions.
I am so excited about the Dallas trip in September. One of the churches where I will be speaking is a Messianic Jewish congregation. The other church is a Full Gospel, Word based, fellowship. It is a wonderful thing to meet sisters and brothers from all walks of life and all backgrounds coming together under the Lord Jesus Christ.
Call or e mail for info on what is happening at these meeting or to schedule your own.

Cat Nip
I was being to wonder why I planted so much cat nip. The plants are big and bushy and going to seed, not pretty. This morning I knew. Settling on the tops of the flowering mints were three wild canaries. They were a delight to watch as they gobbled up the seeds. I believe they will be back and bring their friends. Sometimes, even the ugly things make sense if you wait for the answers.

My Best Kitty
My BEST kitty was killed last night on the road in front of our house. She has been with us on the farm for almost 20 years. She leaves a great “cat heritage” for all who will follow her. She was a mighty hunter with a fantastic prrrr, who loved to sit on my lap and be petted.
I am sad today.

Basil Pesto
The first batch of Basil pesto is in process. Fresh cut basil, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and walnuts are all laid out on the counter. The blender is plugged in.
Wishing my friend from Texas was here to help. We had a good old time making pesto some years ago. The extra hands help and the company was good.

Alaska melon
Fresh from the garden, the first Alaska melon of the season. Juicy, sweet, and super delicious, all describe my first bite. The Alaska melons ripen first, then the Israel melons. Last, but not least, will come the Sugar Baby Watermelons. What a great way to start a Monday. Yum! Yum! and double Yum Yum!

Garlic
Today, I will make my first batch of pickled garlic. I have been pickling Jalapeno peppers for years. My eldest son and his sons really like them. They get jars of pickled Jalapenos for Christmas. This year, I will add the pickled garlic. In addition, their Christmas goodies will include red sour kraut, plum jam, and a string of red chile peppers. Creative, Yes?
