Farm Truck
Our farm truck is an old Dodge Van. Bob and his farm hand are loading up two old sheep to be recycled. ( butcher shop)Â The seats have been removed from the Van and the sheep get “put” in the back. It is interesting to watch. Maybe, some day, we will have a pick up truck for such chores. For now, the Van works for us. A frequently used word around here is “improvise”.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes are planted, so are the peppers, egg plants, basils, cabbages, broccoli, and cucumbers. These plants were from set outs grown in the basement under grow lights. The beans, carrots, beets are all planted from seeds. I am so thankful for the “helping hands’ that arrived yesterday. It is a labor intensive time of the year.
We have been blessed with visitors, too. Several have stopped by to see the baby lambs. (Polypay lambs are for sale and two ram lambs were sold this morning). Later on, some folks came buy to buy tomato plants and brought us some fresh sun fish. They made for an incredible lunch!
Time for a nap and then back out there. More plants to go into the main garden this afternoon. We will probably work until dark. What a blessing it is to live in the country! Smiling now!

Square Foot Gardens
Bob is finishing up on two more square foot gardens. I will be able to plant this afternoon. He built these with a pedestal base. They stand far enough off the ground that I stand up straight or sit on a bench and work with my plants. We have a huge organic garden and it is wonderful, but the square foot gardens are fun to play with. It is amazing how much produce can be grown in a season from just one of these boxes. Thanks Bob, you are my hero.

Thank You
Thank you for taking the time to send the Easter card and your encouraging note. It blessed my heart. I did not received it until yesterday. The mail must have been held up. It came just at the right time. I really needed that! Blessings on your day! You have a friend at Milk and Honey Farm.

Planting Now
Green things going in. I am planting the green things that were sprouted and have been growing in the basement under grow lights. Today, they get planted in real dirt and enjoy real sun shine. Red Russian Kale, Blue Scotch Kale, Thai spinach mustard, five types of gourmet lettuces, with a border of Marigolds are in the ground. Hooray! Next step is to start on the hanging baskets of flowers. Smiling now.

Lambs Day Out
These Polypay lambs love being in the pasture. The great Pyrenees dogs are happy to have something else to guard. The lambs are for sale and will be ready to go to their homes in Mid June.

Farm Help
When Bob introduced our farm helper to one of the garter snakes, it was not exactly love at first sight. However, they soon got use to each other. Too bad his sister wasn’t here to join in the fun. Maybe next time. How about it, Irene??

Lamb Adventures
It was a big adventure for the new lambs to be let out of the barn. They learned very quickly to nibble on the grass and race around the barn. These purebred Polypay lambs are for sale. Check out the web site for info.

My Idea of Working Out
Yesterday, I worked out almost all day. This morning, my body is sore and stiff. My first step in yesterday’s adventure was wearing the proper exercise clothing…work boots, leather gloves, and a straw hat. Using the right equipment( a shovel, hoe, and rake) are necessary for successful exercise. I did a lot of stretching, bending, and crawling motions. There was also a significant amount of lifting. Today, I will repeat the same working out program. It is a good plan and will last all summer and into the fall.
I do not go to the local gym for all this healthy exercise. I go out the back door to my garden. I get dirty and sweaty and do a lot of deep breathing. The food that is grown is the real deal. Non GMO seeds are in my garden. Heirloom seeds are in my garden. Organic methods are used to produce beautiful and healthy food for me and mine.
In a week or two, the soreness will leave my body. My” too tight” jeans will fit again. I will sleep well at night and energy for the days will increase. This form of “working out” will not suit everybody, but it works for me. Smiling now.
