In The basket

Wax beans, one cucumber, one zucchini squash, and a bunch of straw flowers are in the basket,  and I am back inside.    Water for the sheep and big dogs, water for the flower cart, and water for the hanging baskets, and I am back inside. Walk for the poodle and  one Pyrenees on the road in front of the house, and I am back inside. There is no way I can work outside today.

The heat and humidity rule! The poodle is parked on the tile floor in front of the air conditioner. The Pyrenees is sleeping on the cement floor in the basement.  I am parked in my favorite chair and have officially given myself the “day off”.  The weeds will have to wait.

Strawberries

Our strawberry crop is amazing, the best we have ever had. The last picking was turned into Strawberry Jam. It will be soooo good served up on a hot biscuit in the middle of a Minnesota winter.  Life is good.

The Friendly Toad

This is “Fred”. He is one of Bob’s garden buddies. I like furry, friendly, soft, and cuddly animals. Bob like reptiles. Go figure!

Multitask

Multitask is another word for my life. Just today, I will help capture chickens for execution, sell a great Pyrenees puppy, pick strawberries, pull weeds, make bean soup, finish four loads of laundry, answer e mails from yesterday, work on a message for Sunday, and be thankful for my country life.  I have learned to—

STRESS LESS AND PRAY MORE!

Beautiful

I am celebrating today by baking a Strawberry and Rhubarb pie. We have this agreement. Bob picks and I bake. It is a beautiful thing.

Strawberry Short Cake

Bob is smiling. Our strawberries have begun to ripen. He picked 12 of the huge, ripe, ones. I promised to bake a strawberry  short cake for supper.

Pastor Sam & Family Visit the Farm

Pastor Sam Dewald of World Healing International Church, came to visit the Milk and Honey Farm. It was so much fun hosting Pastor Sam Dewald and his family – beside being missionaries to the United States, they are great people of faith!  He will be ministering at Calvary Worship Center in St. Louis Park on Wednesday 19th, 2013,  at 7:00PM. For more info, check out the Living Waters website. You do not want to miss this special Curse Breaking Service!

Multitasking Puppies

Pyr Pups Multitask!

One male and two female Pyr puppies born to Mocca and Boaz in March have begun training in “multitasking.”    They are being socialized in the house and love to be petted by old and young alike. All three of the pups  have mellow personalities and are learning  house manners.

For their other task, they are in guard training outside with our sheep. They are bright and alert and watch their parents guard our flock. The pups will learn by observing  the older dogs. Of course, the pups get to observe the sheep from the safety of a kennel fence. They need to be protected from being butted by an over protective ewe.

Many of our puppy buyers are looking for a  pet, who is also a guardian. Our Pyrs fit that description. By the time these puppies go to their new families, they will be accustomed to people and to  livestock.

The male puppy is sold and is waiting for his new family to pick him up. The two females are available. Call 320 286-2865 for information and puppy news.

Happy Father’s Day

I want to wish my sons a very Happy Father’s Day. They are the best examples of  good fathers that I know.  Their children think so, and their wives know it to be true. Not only are they Godly examples to their own children, but they are mentors of other peoples kids as well.

Be blessed , John and Cannon. You fill up my heart.

Love, Mom

Lunch

Now this is fun! I pick our lunch shortly before noon. It includes Fours types of gourmet lettuce, Swiss chard, Red Kale, Green Kale, Collard greens, Japanese mustard, radishes, Green Onions, Garlic Chives, Oregano, Italian Parsley, Cilantro and Basil, for the base of the salad.  These are the green things we eat every day. Organic green things are  expensive to buy, so I beat the system by planting my own greens.

Right now, I am still buying the organic tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, and carrots that go on top of the greens.  However, in another month, I should also be able to pick these out of the main garden. That this is a huge Blessing is an understatement! I love my garden!!
