Grieving

I just completed reading a book by Billy Vaughn. Billy is the father of Elite Navy Seal, Aaron Carson Vaughn, who was killed August 6, 2011 when a Chinook chopper carrying 30 American troops was shot down in Afghanistan.  The title  of the book is “Betrayed”. I am grieving now. This is one of the reasons that I have committed to pray for America.

The Good News

The Good News is that the storm with high winds and hail did not touch my plastic Hoop House green house. All the plants are safe inside. The bad news in the wind blew a  farm wagon into the side of Bob’s van and smashed out windows. The good news is that the hail did not dent my Van that was parked outside of the garage. (Bob is building a chicken tractor inside the garage and there is no room for the Van) The bad news is that the dog house in the front kennel was blown over and the roof torn off. The good news is that all the dogs were safe inside the barn. The bad news is that repairs are expensive. The good news is that Bob has a job! The bad news is that big limbs were torn off the old trees in front. The good news is that the trees still stand.  Thank you, Lord, that You are the good news . Have a Blessed week end. Jesus rules!

Homemade Soup

One of my favorite things to do is to make a “savory” soup. Today, I began with  left over of lamb roast in an eight quart kettle. Next, I added the veggies — (from last summers garden )– tomatoes, squash, corn, cabbage, carrots and potatoes. The final step are the dried herbs (from last summers garden) — sage, basil, oregano, and hot peppers.  Salt and pepper are added too. I will add enough water to cover everything and simmer it on the back burner all day.

A hot bowl of soup is my “comfort” food today. The kitchen is my happy place!

Cat spray ??

My Tom cat has been banished to the barn. He disgraced himself by spraying in the root cellar and the basement . My question is “How do I get rid of the smell”? It is gross. Please help if you know the answer.
