Now This

The sheep have delivered all their lambs, two litters of puppies have arrived, and I am finished planting “Garden 2012”.  Now this!

Isa.40:31  Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Clorox

Today is my last day of planting “Garden 2012”. Everything is is the ground, the place is cleaned up, and my fingernails are a wreck. The only way to get them clean is to dip my fingers into Clorox and use a nail brush. I am thinking tonight will be “Spa night”. It is time for a serious manicure. Graduation parties, Memorial Day events, and church activities this week end deserve clean fingernails.

I may even paint them RED!

Tiny Tomato

On garden patrol, after the big rain, I discovered the first tiny tomato. The leaves of the plant were beat up. The wind and rain had been fierce. However, that tiny tomato had hung on. If a tiny tomato can hang on during a storm, so can I.  It is amazing the life lessons that I learn from my garden.

The Kitten

Bob captured a wild kitten in the barn and gave it to me for taming. Currently, the kitten is living with the rabbits in the hutch. He has learned to sit on my lap and drink milk from a saucer.  I named him ‘Fuzzy”.

Back up Plan

. The high winds and fierce weather messed up some tomato plants. No big deal. I always save extra plants to replace any damage. Believe it is always good to have plan “B”.

Rhubarb Crisp

The wind is fierce today. So strong, I can’t work in the garden. I have moved back  into the kitchen. There is serious Rhubarb Crisp happening today.  There are four pans of bubbling crisp in the oven and two more on the counter waiting to go in.  Some of this will go into the freezer to be shared with my Grandsons, who will visit in June.  One pan is Bob’s “private property”.  It will be served with vanilla ice cream floating on top.

He will be thrilled! Rhubarb crisp is his favorite.

Progress

All the square foot garden boxes are filled and planted. Progress is happening on the main garden too.  All the broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and cucumber plants are in. I will need to move all the rest of the plants out of the green house in the next few days. It is warming up.  All the hanging baskets are filled with red, white, and blue flowers and hung across the back porch. They are my patriotic statement.

We have been picking green things for salads for several weeks. Today, I picked my first bunch of French Breakfast Radishes.

Bob moved the big Ewes and their baby lambs out of the barn. It is so fun to watch them running and jumping.  They are all glad to be FREE. The big dogs like it when the lambs are out. It gives them something to guard.

My blogs will be shorter now. The garden is labor intensive. My back is telling me to take a nap!
