Lent

It is good to write down your vision, especially if it seems slow in coming. Lent is an excellant time to do this.
Habakkuk 2:2

Then the Lord answered me and said; ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak. and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Barn Cats and Big Dogs

Our Great Pyrenees hang out in and around the barn in the winter, so do the sheep.  Other barn residents include our ” working cats”. They keep the rodent population at a minimum. What keeps me entertained is that each cat has her favorite Pyr.

The cats and dogs play, snooze, and generally hang out together. Each cat will sleep on top of her favorite big dog.  All that fur keeps them warm.  Everybody gets along. The cats take care of the mice and the big dog take care of everything else.  It is all good.

Green Things

The green things (lettuce, chard, kale) are doing well under the grow lights in the basement. They are almost tall enough to begin to pick for fresh salads. I switch their position under the lights and mist them each day.

The organic greens at the store are really pricey.  My little “salad patch” in the basement is fun and it is FREE!

Reading

I am reading Bill Johnson’s book, “Face To Face With God”. One of his statements I really like is as follows.

“Face to face encounters with God often look very different from each other…..Such experiences have one thing in common—-they make it nearly impossible for people to live as they did before they had them”.

Snow

It is gray and cold outside. The weather guys are talking about snow. I would much rather have it now than in April.  In April, our new lambs will arrive, puppies will be born, and baby bunnies will be hoping around the rabbit hutch. The green house will be full of plants, with only a kerosene heater to keep them warm.   That would NOT be a good time for a snow storm. So, it is okay with me if we get the big storm today. Better now than later.

I will stay in the house with the poodle and make chicken soup. “Bring it on”!!

Lent

Lent is a good time to remember this.

Psalm 107:20    He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Really Fun

I was given a load of bread and English muffins to take to the local Food shelf. It was a big load. The bread was the “good kind”, 12 Grain and healthy.  The back of the Van was full as I drove to the Food Shelf. The Food Shelf took some of the load. It filled both their freezers to the top. The Food Shelf Boss told me to give the rest of it away.  For the past two hours I have been the “Neighborhood Bread Lady”. I have delivered bread and muffins to all my neighbors. It was fun to visit and to catch up on the local happenings.  It was more fun to have so much to give away!!

Lent

Gas prices are going up.The middle east is erupting. Presidential hopefuls are talking trash. The weather is frightening. The dollar is questionable. Food prices are higher each day. Jobs are not happening.  A plague of repossessed houses marches across the country. It is all happening in the ” land of the free and the home of the brave”.

In this season of Lent I will remember this.

Psalm 94:19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.
