Just for Fun
Today, I am baking a Pecan pie. There is no special occasion. It is a “just for fun” pie! Sure smells good in my kitchen.

Multi tasking Sheep
My sheep multi task. Consider the various functions of my sheep. They provide us with healthy meat. Their poop makes great compost and a beautiful garden. The lambs are darling and fun to cuddle. We sell breeding stock. We have company for dinner and have lamb burgers or chops or roasted leg of lamb. They mow the grass so Bob does not have to. They give the Great Pyrenees dogs something to guard. Their wool makes great comforters that keep us warm in winter. I love my sheep.

Voice Recognition
Sheep have voice recognition. They come when we call them. We are shepherds and take good care of our sheep. They will not come when a stranger calls. Sheep can be smarter than a lot of people, just saying.

Lambs
We are looking forward to the April birthing our our Polypay lambs. The big mama Ewes will be sheared in March, the sheep shed will be cleaned out, and my “birthing kit” will be organized. One of my favorite things is to sit in a big pile of straw and cuddle a new born lamb. It is my own personal way of celebrating Spring.

Lunch
Eating a green salad grown from under my grow lights in the basement is a beautiful thing. Gourmet lettuces, Red Russian Kale, Blue Curly Kale, Bright Lights Swiss chard, Garlic Chives, Italian Parsley, Thyme, Oregano, and Basil are chopped and heaped on a dinner plate. The green things are topped with several hard boiled eggs from my chickens and a home made dressings. I call this lunch!

Beautiful Mud
The season of snow is on its way out. Snow is melting, slush is sloshing, and the “Season of Mud” is almost upon us. That means big white dogs (Great Pyrenees) turn brown and leave big muddy food prints. That means I give up heavy winter snow boots and exchange them for rubber barn boots. That means that it is not profitable to wash the Van. The “Season of Mud” means that the snow covering the grill will melt and we can enjoy grilled lamb chops. I am celebrating mud. Mud is beautiful! You get that way after surviving another winter in Minnesota.

Comfort Food
I am making “comfort food” for dinner tonight. Chicken soup with big Amish egg noodles is the main course. A green salad with organic veggies and home made whole wheat bread will be served. My chickens are laying well, so it is Flan for dessert, with maple syrup for a topping. My kitchen smells good. Home grown and home made foods, comfort my heart.

Researching William Bradford
I am researching William Bradford. He helped author and signed The Mayflower Compact. Any information would be appreciated.
