God and The Bible
George Washington said, ” It is impossible to RIGHTLY govern a nation without God and the Bible”. This is so true! There is wisdom in every word.

Hanging Herbs
I am hanging bunches of Herbs from the kitchen ceiling today. Basil, Sage, Oregano, Parsley, Thyme, and Tarragon, will make the whole house smell wonderful! I cook with herbs a lot. It is handy to have them hanging in the kitchen.

It Feels Like Fall
The leaves are turning, the wind is blowing, the kraut is krauting, the sauce is saucing and I love fall! The big orange pumpkins have been hauled in from the garden and tomorrow we pick grapes. It feels good outside. Time to get out the sweat shirts and hoodies.

Chicken coop and Bunny Hutch really clean
This morning, the chicken coop is clean–really clean. New straw is down and the old straw and poop are out on the compost pile. The bunny hutch is clean–super clean. New straw is in the nesting boxes. No, I did not do this clean up job.
We are blessed to have a young man work for us once a week. He does all kind of farm jobs. Right now, he is riding around on the mower making the grass look less shaggy. I can trust him to complete a job, put away his tools, and work with excellence. His parents have done a great job. He is home schooled and super smart about a lot of things. His next chore will be some garden picking and clean up.
I really appreciate his help. Thanks, Isaiah!

Love this!
Ezek. 34:16
And will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick.
God is so able to do this. Let Him.

Tomato Monday
Today is officially “Tomato Monday”. There are many, many, five gallon buckets of Brandy wine and Amish Paste tomatoes lined up on my back porch. Bob picked and picked and picked. Some of the Brandy wines weigh over 2# apiece. Today is the day they graduate into tomato sauce. All four burners on my stove will soon be holding big pots of tomatoes cooking down into sauce. Even my crock pot will be full of tomatoes.
I will save seed from the very best to plant next year. Seed time and harvest is a beautiful thing. The beat goes on and on and on. I am blessed to be part of it.

Minnesota State Fair
We visited the Minnesota State fair yesterday. People are more interesting to look at than the exhibits. I am a “people watcher”. For a while, we sat on a green bench and watched people. My observations were not all positive. Most of the people we saw were wolfing down ultimate forms of JUNK. Foods that would eventually make them sick, were being consumed with glee.  There is nothing wrong with eating goodies at the fair, in moderation. However, it is wise to be selective. There were some good choices offered. (Wall-eye on a stick, Fish Tacos, fresh pineapple slices, yogurt smoothies, and lemonade.)
I gag at the memory of seeing a long line in front of a sign that read ” chocolate covered fried bacon!” Shudder! Shudder! Shudder!

Skin cancer
When I was a little girl, I use to get sunburned–a lot! The results of that burning have shown up seventy three years later. I was diagnosed with two types of skin cancer on my face. After months of prayer, gallons of organic vegetable juice, one surgery, and three boxes of band-aids to cover my “spots”, I am doing good–real good.
“Spot” #1 and #2 are gone and nice skin is growing. “Spot” #3 had surgery eight weeks ago. It was not pleasant. The Pathology report came back saying that they did not get all of it and another surgery was required. I was NOT happy!
The morning I was scheduled for surgery, I went for a walk with my big dogs and the poodle, praying all the way. I told the Lord that I would go as scheduled for surgery, but I did not think it was necessary. I ask the Lord to have the surgeon send me home with no surgery. That was a highly unlikely request, but I asked anyway.
Picture this. I am on the operating table and the surgeon enters in his costume–gown, gloves, mask. His nurse follows. The pointed instruments are laid out on the tray. The needles are ready. The bright lights are in my eyes.
We talked for a few minutes and the surgeon SENT ME HOME WITH NO SURGERY. God is so faithful to answer prayer, even at the last minute. He can turn the heart of kings and surgeons. God can cancel surgery! My surgeon decided to keep an eye on it rather than operate. I got off the table and came home, smiling all the way.
The three inch scar and 20 stitches on the side of my face are almost non existent. The doctor was amazed at how fast I was growing new skin. With a little help from Revlon, you can hardly see the scar.
From now on, I will use sun block and wear a big floppy hat in the garden. The organic juicing and healthy diet will continue. I will talk about what the Lord has done for me. I will tell this story. Somebody needs to hear it.

Because
Because the of the high price of feeding our animals on the farm, we are making some changes. Most of these “adjustments” will be recycled into a different form. The animals involved are one very old sheep, two old turkeys, and five white rabbits. They are nice animals and we have enjoyed their company. However, the sheep is too old to breed, the turkeys aren’t contributing to the economy of the farm, and we have enough rabbits. We are cutting our feed costs.
On that same note, we are also cleaning up and giving away a lot of unused “stuff”. I am keeping only what we are using and getting rid of the dead weight.
There is a new season coming and we are getting ready for it. Getting rid of the old makes room for the new. It feels good.

The Old Well is Dead
We lost our old well this morning. It is gone, finished, and over. The” Well people” are putting in a new one right now. The good thing about this is that it happened before winter. Some things can be put off, Other things are a luxury. Water is not either of these. We need a good water supply.
It is amazing how many things we take for granted until they are gone.
