Shopping
I have to go shopping for a dress and high heels. We are officiating at a wedding in June. Since my life is spent in jeans, boots, and tennis shoes, none of which will work for the Pastor Lady, it is time to shop. I need a dress or skirt and jacket that can be worn to the wedding and also to my Grandsons graduation. It has been years since I went shopping for a dress! ” Country Casual” suits me just fine.

Animal Updates
Number 8 and Number 9 Polypay lambs were born last night. We had plans to go to a concert. That changed big time! The only concert we heard was the musical sound of sheep making the “baaaa” sound out in the barn. Mom and babies are doing good !
The update on the smallest lamb ever born on our farm (Tiny Twin) is that she is thriving. She has a fat tunny and thinks I am her Mom. This morning, I gave her a real name. She will be called “Daisy”. (“Daisy Tiny Twin” of Milk and Honey Farm)
I also discovered another pregnant barn kitty. That makes two. Kittens will be fun. The Mother cats are serious “working cats”. They will teach their babies to hunt mice. This is excellent rodent control.
The nine great Pyrenees puppies, born to Mocca and Boaz on April 14th, have their eyes open. They have begun to scoot around on their tummies. The four pups born to Tesse and Boaz on April 20th, are all Badger marked females. They are still in the whelping box in the basement. Next week, they will graduate to the barn kennel.
I have to paint a “Rabbit For Sale” sign today. We have five New Zealand bunnies for sale. They will make great 4H projects.
All this baby animal stuff will be over by mid May. Right now, I am enjoying it.

Planting Green Things
I am planting “Green things” in my square foot gardens. The plants look good and have healthy root systems. I started the plants from seed in March. Swiss Chard, Red Kale, and Collard greens went in today. Five varieties of lettuce were planted yesterday. All this green stuff makes for wonderful salads. The steamed greens with garlic and a little olive oil are wonderful. One of the square foot gardens will be planted with greens. Another one of the square foot gardens will be planted with a variety of herbs. I take my basket and scissors out with me and it is instant salad. As the growing season progresses, I will add tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.
There are diagrams and directions for the square foot gardens on our web site. I love my main garden, but the square foot gardens behind the house are just fun!!

Tiny Twin Lamb
She knows me! When I go out to the barn, she comes charging out to meet me. She makes “baaaa” noises until I sit in the old lawn chair and make room for her on my lap. Tiny Twin is up to one half a bottle of lamb milk replacer four times a day. We snuggle and she slurps.
I smell like a lamb.

Babies Everywhere
Great Pyrenees puppies were born to Tess and Boaz on April 19th. Tess and the pups are in the whelping box in the basement. They will be moved out to one of the barn kennels this week. Mocca and her pups(born on April 14th) are in the barn. Their kennel is right next door to the Mama sheep and baby lambs. The barn has been turned into a nursery.
The rest of the news—-Mother goose is still sitting on her eggs. One baby chick was hatched this morning. The pregnant cat is fat. Tomorrow, I take the first load of heirloom vegetable and herb baby plants to the local health food store. They are going to sell them for me. Â (Dan and Becky’s Market in Cokato, MN.)
Right now, I am considering a very serious nap. All these babies are a LOT of work!!!

Tiny Twin
“Tiny Twin” lamb is a week old. She still is too small to reach her Mother’s spouts. We have been using a stomach tube four times a day and feeding her with Lamb Milk Replacer solution. Today, I introduced her to a baby bottle. She did great! I now have an “official” bottle lamb.
She likes to sit on my lap and have her ears scratched.

Rhubarb
Sometime today, I will do the first cutting on my rhubarb plants. This will translate into Rhubarb pie, Rhubarb crisp, Rhubarb sauce, or Rhubarb jam. Bob would vote for the Rhubarb crisp. Yum!

Lone Duck
The last duck is out in the pen pretending he is a goose. His long time mate died a few weeks ago. They both arrived as eggs years ago. There were 13 eggs and their Mom hatched all of them during a huge thunder storm.. I remember her well, as she paraded into the pasture with all 13 babies following. What a proud Mama! She has been gone a long, long time. Her last surviving son is with the geese now. He eats their food and swims in their baby swimming pool. He ruffles his feather just the like biggest goose.
He acts like he is waiting for something. This evening, he is watching the sun go down in the western sky. I think he is lonely.
