The Way It Is

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.  Psalm 37:4,5

Cougars

Our local friends who hunt have spotted Cougars in the area.  The hunters have the trail cam rigs and have the photos of the cougars.  We have had several e mail and phone calls from folks who have small pets. They are interested in our Great Pyrenees dogs for guards. ( for pets and children)  We have pups available.

Today is the first day of hunting season. I am wondering what else will show up.  Our big dogs take care of business around our farm. If we hear them barking at night, we just go back to sleep. They’ll deal with whatever critter it is.  No worries.

Old Rooster

Question: ” What to do with an old, tough Rooster?”

Answer: Put him in a huge pot of boiling water. (kill him first) Add salt, pepper, and Bay leaves.
Cook him until he falls apart. ( about six hours). Meanwhile, saute onion, celery, garlic in a small amount of olive oil. Add some dried parsley. Take the meat off the bones of the old rooster. Mix together the chicken broth, the meat from the rooster,  the vegetables, and seasonings.  Simmer for two hours. Add some milk and and simmer for 30 minutes.  Meanwhile, make some whole wheat bisquits.

Break open the biscuits and pour the Rooster mix over them. Put an extra biscuit on the plate for sopping up the gravy. Enjoy!!

Question: “Guess what we are having for supper?’

Pyr Pups Ready.

The two female Pyr pups are bathed, brushed, and all ready. Today, they begin their big adventure on a road trip  to Nevada. We are waiting for their new owner to arrive.

I have already said “good by” to them.  They will have a great life with a nice lady in Nevada.  We will have more Pyr pups, but sometimes it is hard for me to watch them drive out with their new owner. ( sniff)

My Soup Kitchen

My kitchen has become a soup kitchen. It is organized for the annual processing of homemade soups.  When the wind is howling around the back door, the sky is gray, and the snow is three feet deep, I will be so glad that there is a supply of  homegrown and homemade soup. The “soup kitchen” happens every fall. I chop, stir, season, and create new flavors of soup.  Today, is for Butternut squash curry soup, bean and turkey ham soup, potato and cheese soup, and chicken soup with Amish noodles.

The big kettles are bubbling away and the smells are incredible.  When it is all cooked, I will bag it up and put it in the freezer.

It is going to be a very good day. This is really fun!!!

Pry Pups Going Home

More of Josie’s puppies are going to their new homes this week. One was picked up this morning. Two more are going to Nevada on Thursday. Their new owner will be flying into Minneapolis, renting a car, coming to our farm, picking up her puppies, and driving the pups back to Nevada. Now that is a “ROAD TRIP”!!

Puppy pictures are on the web site.

True

“Education, without God, only creates intellectual barbarians”.

So true is this quote from Dennis Lindsay, President of Christ for the Nations.

Pray until something happens!

Cannon

My son came all the way from Hawaii  to visit and I put him to work planting garlic! He does remember how to use a shovel.  We should have over 1000 cloves in the ground this year.  He remembers how to hug his Mom too.  This is all good!

Just Plain Nuts.

I heard on Fox news that the U. S. sends aid to China.  This is just plain nuts!  A toad jumped out of my dish washer this morning.   This is also just plain nuts. However, I think the toad in the dishwasher makes more sense than the U. S. sending  aid to china!
