Pyr Pups Graduating
The Great Pyrenees puppies are graduating to the barn kennel tonight. They are strong and healthy, the weather is beautiful, the puppy kennel is clean. It is time for them to be outside. It will be a parade. Mocca, their Mom, will go out first. Bob and I will bring the puppies in several laundry baskets. All the big dogs will be curious and gather round. Boaz will see his sons and daughters for the first time. The barn cats will check them out and the sheep will ignore them. As they grow and develop, the pups will be introduced to the sheep and the rest of the animals. They will be accustomed to the smells and sounds of the barn right from the beginning. My old lawn chair is in the kennel and from there, I will hold and cuddle puppies to my hearts content. Mocca has a large outside run attacked to the back of the puppy kennel. She can lay outside in the sunshine, but is still close to guard them. The pups go out this evening and the puppy whelping area in the basement will be cleaned tomorrow. Happy Day!

Sign of the times
When the herbs are gathered in, it is a sign that the seasons are changing. Basil, Sage, and Thyme are in the dehydrator now. They will be dried for winter use in the kitchen. The potato plants are dying back, a sign that we can harvest our potato crop very soon. The leaves on the garlic plants are wilting and changing from bright green to brown. The garlic is ready to dig. The tomatoes are starting to turn red, a sign that the ripening has begun. Dried flowers are hanging from the kitchen ceiling, bringing vivid colors in the house.
The jeans that were too tight this Spring are now loose. The change is from working in the garden. The loft is full of hay bales, a sign that our sheep will eat this winter. It is easy to”read” the signs of the changing seasons. If you look, you can see them. However, I am aware of more important signs. There are signs all over the world that point to another kind of harvest. If you look, you can see them. The Lord of the Harvest will be coming soon!

Great Way
Psalm 90:17– And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and yes, establish the work of our hands.
A great Way to pray–just saying!

Celebrating Cabbage
The tiny cabbage seeds, sown last spring, have come full circle. Bob picked the cabbages, hauled them onto the porch and from there I took over. With a little help from my friends, the cabbage has become Kraut. It is bubbling away in the old crock. In a few weeks, I will be canning Kraut. It is a rite of passage, celebrated every year since we moved to the farm. The canning jars are washed and ready, and my kitchen smells like Kraut. It makes me Happy! Happy! Happy!

Happy Monday – New Stuff
The NEW discovery is another baby bunny. Now there are four. I named this one “Fuzzy”. The NEWEST recipe for my bread includes pumpkin seed, hemp seed and chia seed for crunch. Maple syrup for sweetness, organic whole wheat, and extra virgin olive oil are all part of the process. There are nine loaves cooling on the kitchen counter. Bob will be a happy camper. NEW items to bring in from the garden include green peppers, Jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes. We are getting cucumbers, wax beans, green beans, cabbage, broccoli, onions, and garlic every day. It is hard to keep up. NEW puppies are expected in the next week or so from Mocca and Boaz. There is a NEW plastic children’s swimming pool in the basement. It is a great thing to use for the puppy whelping area. NEW things are interesting. They are sone of the reasons that the country life works for me. It never gets old. I never, no never, get bored!

Baby Bunnies Continued
I am watching baby bunnies happily hoping around in the grass. I named them Flopsie,, Mopsie, and Cottontail. Taking a “Time Out” from all the bad stuff going on in the world, and enjoying the simple things, is a beautiful thing.

Baby Bunnies
We have baby New Zealand white bunnies. They have been underground, but came up and out today. They have tiny, little pink ears and bright pick eyes. The bunnies will be ready to go to their forever homes in about two weeks. They make great pets for kids and can be trained to a kitty litter box inside the house. They do not make any noise and can become very tame. The Mama rabbit actually comes when I call her. Call or email if you are interested.
